Privacy notice

Short version: we republish official public records about buildings, we set no advertising identity of our own, and if a page shows your home you can ask for it to be removed.

What we publish

This site republishes Energy Performance Certificate data for England and Wales from the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government’s open data service. Certificate records include a property’s address, and the government’s guidance states that address-level energy performance data constitutes personal data. Publishing it makes us a data controller for that data.

Our lawful basis

We publish on the basis of legitimate interests: making public building-performance records easier to find and understand, for the purposes permitted by the dataset’s licensing notice, including the promotion and better understanding of the energy efficiency of buildings in the sale and rental markets. The same records are published by the official register and numerous property websites.

Your rights

You can ask us to remove the certificate listing for your property; see removing your data. You can also make a subject access request, ask for corrections, or complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk). Contact: [email protected].

What we collect about visitors

Searches happen in your browser or against our database without being tied to you. We keep standard server logs (IP address, pages requested) for security, retained briefly. Advertising, when it appears, is served by third parties whose cookies are subject to your consent choices.

Where the data lives

Certificate data is stored in a database hosted in London. The source datasets and their licences are described on about the data.
